The inverter is the brain of your solar plant — and the one component that occasionally needs attention. Rajasthan adds two extra stresses: 45°C summers and fine dust that chokes cooling vents. Most inverter issues are minor; knowing what to check first saves you service fees and days of lost generation.
8 common inverter faults and what they mean
- No display / completely dead — usually the AC supply or the DC isolator. Check your home breaker, then the DC switch beside the inverter.
- "Grid over/under voltage" error — the most common fault in Rajasthan. Voltage from the DISCOM swings outside limits; the inverter protects itself by shutting down and restarts automatically. Frequent? Ask us about a voltage stabiliser option.
- No generation in full sunlight — check whether panels are shaded or dusty, and whether the DC MCB has tripped.
- Overheating (error: high temperature) — clean the air vents. Dust coating the heat sink can raise temperature 10°C+ and cut output 10–20%.
- Strange noise / humming — a loose connection or failing fan. A cleaning and tightening service usually fixes it.
- Repeated islanding trips — grid instability in your area; note the error code and call us rather than resetting endlessly.
- DC leakage / insulation error — often a pinched cable or moisture in a junction box. Needs a professional check — do not ignore.
- Derating in heat — above ~45°C the inverter deliberately reduces power. Keep it shaded and ventilated; never enclose it in a hot metal box.
The 60-second checklist before you call anyone
- Is the AC breaker ON? Is the DC isolator ON?
- Is anything shading the panels (new hoarding, tree, clothesline)?
- Are the vents dusty? (Blow them gently or wipe — never use water.)
- What error code shows? Take a photo — it saves a service visit.
Warranty and repair in Rajasthan
Branded inverters (Growatt, Sungrow, Havells) carry a standard 5-year warranty with service centres in Jaipur and major Rajasthan cities. Raavi Solar handles warranty claims, repairs and replacement for every plant we install — and our AMC plans include inverter health checks with every visit. If your inverter shows a fault you do not recognise, call 92145 67383 with the error code ready.
