Solar Panel Price in Jaipur 2026: Complete Cost Breakdown

If you have started asking what a rooftop solar system costs in Jaipur, you have probably already received two or three wildly different quotes. One installer says ₹1.6 lakh for 3kW, another says ₹2.3 lakh for what sounds like the same thing. Both cannot be right — and understanding the gap is worth more than any discount you will negotiate.

This guide gives you the actual 2026 market rates in Jaipur, explains exactly what the subsidy takes off, and shows you where cheap quotes quietly cut corners.

These are turnkey on-grid prices, meaning everything is included: Tier-1 panels, a branded inverter, hot-dip galvanised mounting structure, all cabling and protection equipment, installation labour, net metering coordination and subsidy paperwork. GST is included.

What the government subsidy actually pays

Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana the central subsidy is a fixed slab, not a percentage of what you paid. You get ₹30,000 for 1kW, ₹60,000 for 2kW, and ₹78,000 for 3kW or anything larger.

The ₹78,000 cap surprises most people

A 5kW system and a 10kW system receive exactly the same ₹78,000. Nothing extra is paid above 3kW. This matters when sizing: going from 3kW to 5kW costs you the full difference out of pocket, so only size up if your consumption genuinely justifies it.

The money is not a discount at the time of purchase. You pay the installer the full amount, and the Government transfers the subsidy directly into your bank account by DBT, typically 30 to 45 days after your net meter is installed and the plant is commissioned. It applies to residential connections only, in the owner's name.

Why one quote is ₹40,000 cheaper

A solar plant is not one product, it is about eight. A cheaper quote is almost never the same system at a better price — it is a different system. Here is where the money usually disappears:

  • Panels. ALMM-listed Tier-1 modules from Waaree, Adani, Vikram or Tata cost noticeably more than unbranded or B-grade stock. If a quote will not name the brand and model in writing, that is your answer.
  • Mounting structure. Hot-dip galvanised steel rated for 150 km/h wind versus painted mild steel that rusts within three or four Rajasthan summers. The saving here is around ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 and it is the most common corner cut.
  • Cables and protection. Proper DC cable, MC4 connectors, ACDB and DCDB boxes, surge protection, earthing and a lightning arrestor. Skipping earthing and SPD saves real money and creates a real fire risk.
  • Subsidy paperwork. Some quotes look lower because the portal application and DISCOM follow-up are simply not included, then appear later as a ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 file charge.
  • After-sales service. Five years of scheduled maintenance costs the installer something. A quote without it is cheaper on day one and expensive in year three.

What size do you actually need?

Take your average monthly electricity bill and use this as a starting point. An honest installer will often recommend a smaller system than you expect — oversizing wastes money because anything above 3kW gets no extra subsidy, and exported surplus is paid at only ₹3.26 per unit.

Payback: the number that actually matters

Jaipur enjoys 5.5 to 6.2 peak sun hours per day and over 300 clear days a year, which is among the best solar yield in India. Each 1kW installed generates roughly 4.5 to 5 units daily, or about 135 to 150 units per month.

Take a typical 3kW example. Net cost after subsidy is about ₹1,07,000. It generates roughly 400 to 450 units a month, saving around ₹3,000 at JVVNL's upper domestic slab. That is ₹36,000 a year, giving payback in a little over three years. The panels carry a 25 to 30 year performance warranty, so you get roughly two decades of nearly free electricity after that.

Do not forget the tariff will keep rising

Electricity tariffs in Rajasthan have risen steadily for years. Your solar plant's savings rise with them, while your cost is locked in on the day you install. Every year you delay, the payback maths gets better for the person who installed and worse for the person who waited.
